James “Jim” A. Miller, 76, Marion, died at Marion General Hospital at 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017. He was born in Marion to George and Stella (McFarland) Miller, and he married Joan Butler on Nov. 7, 1965.

Jim was a Marion High School graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served 25 years as a patrolman and worked his way up to a detective with the Marion Police Department. Jim also worked with Lumas Armored Car Service, Fisher Body, and Marion General Hospital, all in security, as well as at Chrysler on the production line.

His wife, Joan, survives him in addition to his daughters, Richa L. Miller, Fort Wayne, and Camille L. Miller, Phoenix, Arizona; siblings, Allen Miller, Laville Miller, and Kyle Miller, all from Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and brother, George Miller, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Allen Temple AME Church, 3440 S. Washington St., Marion. Services begin at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Shonda Gladden officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
