McKinley Campbell, Jr., 77, Marion, died in Marion General Hospital at 10:08 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017. He was born on May 7, 1940, in Manchester, Kentucky, to the late McKinley and Bernice (Wilson) Campbell, Sr., and was a graduate of Marion High School. McKinley enlisted in the military and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Following his military service, he worked for the Marion Police Department as a police officer. He held various rankings with the police department and not only helped start the canine unit there but also ran a canine school. He was actively involved with the PAL Club and coached for many years.

McKinley had also worked with the Grant County Sheriff's Department and was a special investigator for the prosecutor's office. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 10. Football and NASCAR were a couple of McKinley's favorite pastimes, and he always looked forward to visiting Biloxi, Mississippi.

He was a friend to all, and he loved socializing, meeting, and helping everyone. Jr. lived life to the fullest in his own unique way. Survivors include his daughter, Leah (Brett) Frazier, Jonesboro; son, Jeffrey Campbell, Kokomo; sister, Mayme Ritchie, Montgomery, Alabama; grandchildren, Noel (Justin) Hearn, Stamping Ground, Kentucky, and Sydney Frazier, Jonesboro; great-grandson, Nolan Hearn; one great-grandson on the way; and nephews, Jim (Dee) Lee, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Dennis Ritchie, Montgomery, Alabama.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Sizemore; a niece, Diane Cherry; and a nephew, Larry Sizemore. The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Services to celebrate McKinley's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017, with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
