Sue Burns Sprinkle passed away Friday.  I know her family appreciates your prayers.  We all will miss her and her generous spirit and wise counsel.

Sue Sprinkle, 70, Marion, died at 7:10 p.m., Friday in Marion General Hospital.

She was born in Marion to the late Everett and Lucile (Anderson) Burns. She married John Sprinkle on April 22, 1995, and he survives.

She was a current member of the full time faculty in the School of Nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University. She was a Registered Nurse, Director of Social Services and Director of Extended Care Unit at Marion General Hospital, where she retired after more than 30 years of service. She was a 1958 graduate of Marion High School, attended Methodist School of Nursing, Indianapolis, received her B.S. and Masters in Nursing from I.U. and was a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.

Sue was a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Nursing Honor Society and Indiana State Nursing Association. She was a member First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Gas City, where she was President of Church Board and was an elder member of the Martha Circle of CWS and Girlfriends Group at the church. She also was President of Women’s Commission Indiana Region of Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a member of the Parish Nurse Program and volunteered at Bridges to Health Clinic.


In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Mike Batton ,Melbourne, Fla., Doug and Batton, Angola; step-children, Kyle Sprinkle, Muncie, and Julie (Mark) Jones, Fishers; granddaughters, Alyssa Batton, and Vivian Jones; grandson, Brock Jones; brother, Jack (Marydee) Burns, Marion; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Burns; and brother Richard Burns.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church of Gas City, 401 E. N. “D “St., Gas City, with Rev. David Shephard officiating. Burial will follow in Estates of Serenity, Marion.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service
